 PREVELLE SILK DERMAL FILLER

 

Prevelle Silk is a new hyaluronic acid filler from Mentor Corporation. It is different from Juvederm and Restylane because it contains lidocaine. This is a new line of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and it contains 0.3% Lidocaine. Having this pain blocking ingredient in it’s formulation makes the injection easier to give without having to treat the area first with a local anesthetic first.  Prevelle Silk is approved for injection into the mid to deep dermis to reduce moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles, and of course the nasolabial folds.

Due to its soft gel density, there is less likelihood that there will be ridging or lumping.
Prevelle Silk contains 5.5mg of hyaluronic acid per cc, and in fact is very similar to Captique. There are physicians that have referred to this product as Captique with an anesthetic (or lidocaine) added. Prevelle Silk doesn’t last as long as Juvederm or Restylane because it has a thinner consistency.

There is a patient niche for this product, mainly the fact that you can get injected with this hyaluronic acid filler and be able to go out in public immediately. This is because it has a much lower probability of bruising and swelling unlike Juvederm or Restylane (which should be injected up to a week before an event incase there is some bruising).

 

 

                                               

 

 

 

Prevelle is recommended for patients who want the following:

  • Less discomfort with injection

  • A lower price point

  • Shorter-lasting result
     

Prevelle is also an ideal "first-timer" dermal filler. The lowered concentrations mean that Prevelle will last a lesser amount of time than the higher-concentration formulas of Juvederm or Restylane. This allows you to "try on" a dermal filler without a long term commitment.

 

Longevity:  Duration is around two months.  If longer lasting results are then desired, it's easy to switch to another hyaluronic acid filler.
