Default Need advice on TT

I am pretty sure I want a tt....at least went for a consult awhile back...PS said i only needed a mini tt....

Questions - has anyone had this (I think I remember a couple of you girls having it)?

Are you happy with the results?
How long was teh recovery period?
How much pain?
When could you do things again like go to work?

The PS never went through it so he really does not know and is not a real person to ask.....

Thanks -
Christine

Well I had a FTT sooo I would not be of any use for a mini. But with a mini you still have drains don't you?? Is he doing muscle repair too???

My down time was what seriously about 6 weeks. I was in my office the week after but boy it was hard. I took 2 hour lunch breaks so I could take a nap. I could not of done a physical job for 8 weeks after if I was lucky. Again I must be a weiner because a lot of ladies here seem to bounce right up to the plate after a surgery. Not me I drag butt. I felt good I just was wore out sooo quickly. I think I tried to act like it was alright so my DH wouldn't get too upset but it was rough. Best thing I ever did for myself. So go for it just make sure you have a back up plan so you can get off work if needed. You won't regret it.

I had a FTT /w MR and lipo to upper abds, then 5 years later and additional wt loss had a vertical incision abdominoplasty with flank lipo the combination of both I guess really gave me the results I was hopin' for.

HTH also I would make a list of questions that I wanted answered when you go on your consult, 'cause ya always forget something ya know.

Good luck and keep us posted K?

I'll be glad to place your dates on the forum calender if you like...

Well a mini TT does not include muscle repair. A few of the girls have had them - but I never read of anyone who was happy with the mini. They wished they had gone with the Full TT.
It IS very painful and the recovery time is long - @ 6 weeks - and you do get swelling that could come and go for a year. The pain is manageable with pain meds and if you are wanting it, it is soooo worth it. The first 3 days are the worst. After that each day is better than the one before. HTH

Hi Christine - here is some information on the Mini Tummy Tuck
The incision is not as long as the full TT - and not as invasive.
  • Mini Tummy Tuck
The plastic surgeon concentrates on the area below the navel. Patients who are within 10 percent of their ideal body weight are the perfect candidate for this procedure. A smaller amount of skin is removed with a mini tummy tuck, and the navel is left intact. A mini tummy tuck is definitely less invasive than a full abdominoplasty.

The length of the incision involved in a mini tummy tuck will depend on the amount of skin to be removed, but will subsequently be smaller than the incision required by a traditional tummy tuck. Liposuction is commonly added with this procedure to sculpt the area more definitively. This procedure can be performed under both general anesthesia and or a local with sedation. However because this procedure is less invasive, normally most patients will receive twilight or a local with sedation.

I had a FTT with MR and would not change that for anything. The recovery was rough and I dont even think I was standing upright for 2 weeks. The pain is managable with pain meds. I love my tummy now and have to look at pics to remind myself what I looked like then. If you are thinking about it and want it go for it, it is soo worth it. Good luck!

Thanks girls -

My problem is that I work in a guidance office in a high school and its extremely hectic, and I can only do the tt on one of the breaks. That would be christmas or winter break and it would only allow me 10 days off.

Something to think about........thanks for all your help.

I did ask him about the twilight and he said since he does MR with the mini it would be too uncomfortable for me.

Chris

I had the mini and it was a waste of money for me.
If you can't talk to your PS then get another one.
I can't imagine if he isn't answering your questions now how he would spend time with you post surgery.
Oh, my mini was a walk in the park since no muscle repair was done but like I said before it was a waste of money b/c a few years later I had to have done with the m/r. HTH Good luck.

Girl, about eveyone has already given you what I would say. I had both a full TT and a mini after I lost more weight and to revise my scar. For the full TT, I didn't think the pain was bad at all. I was back to work in 5 days! Thought my 1st BA was worse as far as pain. Had drains two weeks, back to full me in about 2 months. VERY HAPPY with results. Mini, back to work in 2 days, no drains, back to me in about 3 weeks. Again, VERY HAPPY with results.

Love ya! Norma

I had a FTT with MR and really happy I did it.
I was on pain meds for 2 1/2 weeks and can't imagine working any sooner than that but some girls manage it. I really pampered myself for 3 weeks and had lots of help. Teen age kids and retired in-laws to transport them to activities.

I have been lurking on TT forums for a while...couple of months before my surgery in march and it seems that there is a consistent unhappiness with the mini TT whether or not the MR is done so do some research before you commit.

Hi
I had a full TT with MR but I'll still answer your questions:smile:
Couldn't be happier with the results, you are welcome to look at my pics

I would say 3 weeks off work, feeling back to normalish at 6 weeks but still easily tired.

Pain was very bearable, much better than I had thought. Keep on top of pain meds in beginning.

I went back to work at 2 weeks and that was too soon, 3 weeks would have been better.
HTH

My ps said that a mini does not include muscle repair, so be careful and make sure he is going to include this in the procedure. I wouldn't go throuh the expense and pain without getting the muscle repair! Good luck!

Sweetie, I had a full abdominoplasty (along with a labiaplasty). I don't think the pain was that bad and was able to return to work after 3 weeks.

It is important to wear a compression suit to mitigate swelling. I was not able to because of having the labiaplasty, to my dismay. My abdomen is still a lot flatter and smaller than before.

Hope this helps,

Ana

I don't know if I answered you before but I've been out of town so here it goes.
I had a mini tuck with no muscle repair first time. IMO It was a waste of money. I was at the gym walking on the treadmill in 3 days. No biggy.
Second time around I got the works that included a m/r there was no way I could of gone to the gym I couldn't stand staight for a few days and I was glad b/c I know my doctor stiched me good. I am pretty flat and I love the results. I got what they called a lbl lower body lift and yes it did lift my butt
so double wammy. hth. Good luck.

Hi, Christine--I had a FTT last July and will do a BL next week, so we're opposites. But don't be fearful. I had a really easy recovery--just dumb luck, I guess, but never had any pain whatsoever. Just a lot of soreness and really bad depression about day 10 because of cabin fever and loss of independence (no driving + no shoppping=Momzilla). Took about two or three weeks until I could walk upright, so that may be a factor in returning to work. I'm pretty happy with the results--not perfect but enough so that I can wear a two-piece swimsuit again after thirty years ) And clothes fit better too. Bottom line: do it! Even if there is some pain, stay on top of your meds, and you'll be fine. Good luck, and let us know what you decide.
