You probably have everything you really need already in the house (see Vikki's post). I do want to stress having polysporin or bacitracin if you're gonna' use a cream under bandages - NOT Neosporin. Most surgeons do NOT like NEOsporin after surgery because it tends to cause reactions, even though it works great for cuts and everyday stuff. Also, use sparingly, not smothering the wound. The main thing is going to be asking your PS what type of garment/bra s/he wants you to bring with you - and that will depend on the procedures you are having. As Vikki said, stop taking aspirin at least 2 weeks before your surgery date, as well as Vitamin E. There may be others on your doc's list, so bring a list of any meds and suppliments/herbal things that you use to your pre-op. HTH.

Most plastic surgens are so different, I can tell you what I experience. I was given instructions. No shaving my under arms 48 hours prior to surgery, come all natural to surgery (no makeup, lotion, hair pins, jewelry ect.) went over pain meds, how to take them… Make sure you fill them BEFORE surgery. What to expect at the hospital… what to expect on my first post op visit. My doctor and his office were very clear on what to expect. Surgery was about an hour, recovery was pretty easy for me, and I slept quite a bit the first two days. I can say each passing day I felt so much better!!!

Those pain meds can bind you up real bad, so you might want to have a laxative/stool softener on hand in case you experience some constipation. Make sure to drink plenty of water to help keep you regular and to flush out your system.
And remember....Write Everything Down! Write your questions down and your list of things to have/to avoid. Good luck, J!!!!!! ![]() ~ Carol |
